Gifts for my boyfriend's 21st birthday.

BF and I have been together 2 1/2 years, and he is turning 21 in a month. I am 22, and we didn't do much on my 21st birthday. We are pretty no-frills people, so we don't really celebrate birthdays or holidays. He doesn't have friends here, and not a very social person in general. He prefers to stay at home and play video games and since he's a programmer, he does a lot on the computer, too. I don't want to have his 21st birthday go by unnoticed. He is just happy he can buy booze on that day. For his 20th birthday I wrote him a nice letter and got food from the Olive Garden, which is his favorite restaurant. We also got a grill a few days after his birthday, because he likes to grill. I wouldn't say it was really for "him", but he says that we got it for us, and we had an excuse because it's his birthday. I don't know what to do on this birthday at all. Obviously, the drinking aspect is not the biggest deal, since it's not as if we don't aqlready have beer in the house and what not. I am so bad with gifts for him. He is a self-proclaimed geek, but has everything a "geek" would need. Maybe I should get something to go with the grill, or perhaps do something else completely? Any ideas?

Any ideas for a 1 year present?

Well, my boyfriend and I have reached that point in our relationship -- yep, the one year mark. Over this past year, I've given him framed pictures of us, a massage gift certificate, pajamas, jackets, a firefighter teddy bear, etc. I have no idea what to get him for our one year.

His 4-1-1..
He's a firefighter, very into technology, loves having the newest gadgets (i.e got the 1st iPhone when it came out, and went out and got the 3G version when it came out 6 months later..), hates sweets, loves his car (2008 350Z), hates clothes shopping, and already has a Saint Florian pendent (the patron Saint of firefighters).

Any ideas?

Okay, so I know my BFF, i am elle, wrote a post about her gift dilemma a couple of months ago... but I'm having the same problem!

Me and my boyfriend have decided not to give each other materialistic gifts this year. Last Valentine's Day, I gave him a $50 gas gift card (which he really loved) and he got me a bluetooth (which definitely helped me because I like to talk on the phone when I'm on the road). But this year, I wanted to do something sentimental and romantic because I feel like we buy each other whatever's convenient.

I want to get/make him something thoughtful. No cooking because we're going to eat a nice restaurant. No sex either because we live with our parents and we work during the week so we can't "go away." Ay yi yi. I don't know.

(I am excited about what we're gonna be doing though-we're going to a shooting range! I'm so excited because we're doing something fun & different! Yay!)

Anyway, any suggestions?

Gift Basket for the Boyfriend

I know some of you ladies are wondering what I came up with for my boyfriend's birthday. Well, ta-da! Here ya go:

I got him a gift basket filled with some goodies I thought he'd like:

-- Value Pack of Hanes White T-shirts (I always steal them from him because I like to sleep in them!)
-- Sharpies (He likes to carry them around wherever he goes.)
-- Pack of Car Towels for Drying & Detailing (He's a car guy & loves to keep his car clean. Last time I helped him wash his car I noticed he didn't have anything to dry with except old t-shirts!)
-- Super Street Car Magazine (Like I said, he's a car guy!)
-- Cycle World Magazine (He really wants a motorcycle & is getting his motorcycle license next weekend.)
-- Bottle of Arizona Blueberry White Tea (I introduced this to him last year & it's been his favorite since then.)

I loved putting this together for him. It might not be much, but like I said, I had a small budget & knew that there was really nothing that he wanted. I do plan on cooking him a nice dinner sometime this week, I just haven't had the chance since the last couple days have been super busy.

Sadly, I feel like I didn't get a great response from him for this gift. My friends loved the idea & thought what I got him was great, but some of the things he said when I gave it to him kind of got me down.

Regarding the Sharpies he said, "Wow, I have so many of these already." Well, I know! But, none from me! Sheesh.

Regarding the Car Towels he said, "Great, and I don't even have a car." (He's currently saving up to buy a new car because he sold his last year. He's been driving his dad's car for now, but he STILL likes to keep it clean. I thought it was sweet.)

Regarding the Arizona Blueberry White Tea he said, "You got the small one!" (Apparently 7-11 sells them in two sizes & I got the small one. Bad me.)

I might be reading too much into his comments, but I guess you had to be there. This is just how he is; he's so hard to please! Either soup isn't hot enough or the music isn't loud enough. He can be rather picky & that gets to me sometimes. There's nothing wrong with constructive critcism, but to criticize a gift I got him? Really, there's no need for that. I already felt bad for not being to spend more on him.

Anyways, I'm just venting. I'm PMS'ing right now so everything is getting to me. Don't start thinking my boyfriend is an ass because he is far from it! Trust me, I don't take crap from anyone, so I wouldn't be with him if he didn't treat me right.

Despite my poopiness, here's a couple pics of the moment I gave him his gift. He's all smiles which is great. He did love the car mag & started reading it right away. At least I got one thing right!

And I don't know what to get him as a birthday gift!

First of all, let me say I am notoriously bad at gift-giving. This includes gifts for family, boyfriends, best friends, friends, acquaintances, etc. I might know you well & have deep conversations with you, but when it comes to getting you a gift, my mind goes blank! I don't know why.

Another thing is my budget is rather limited. I went a little overboard on my makeup splurges this past week. So I need some great ideas on what to do and/or make for him! If you have any suggestions or advice, please let me know! I'm open to anything.

P.S. This is a guy who already has everything he wants, at least the material things like clothes, shoes, etc. He really wants a motorcycle & a new car, but as I stated above, I have a VERY limited budget, so uh.. that's out of the question. Haha.

I'm still working on getting the guy..but last weekend I baked him and his roommate cookies and brownies...and I also made him a copy of a CD that reminded me of something he would like! I noticed that It's the little unexpected things that make guys smile! They like knowing that you were just thinking about them.
