My Boyfriend's Birthday Is Next Week...

i have that problem too, 2 weeks ago coz its my husband's bday last 30th and i went to the city and i had a hard time looking for a gift for him.. I went into how many stores and shops, and i ended up to the first store i visited in the morning. i just bought him a penshoppe shirt he liked it actually (If hye does, ill wear it myself hhmp.).. Has he hinted around at anything he wants? Think back, maybe he's mentioned something. I don't really know what a great present would be especially since I do not know him but that's how I choose gifts, based on personality and that person's likes. Since you mentioned that he has all the material things he needs then, maybe you can make something. Can you cook? If you can then I think it would be well worth the effort to make him a special dinner. Give him something meaningful that comes straight from your heart and that you know he'll cherish. Maybe not a teddy bear or something super cheesy cause it's kind of a weird gift to give a guy. Have you checked redenvelope.com? Personalized gifts can be pretty cool.

Make a scrapbook of pictures of the of you....or maybe that's too cheesy...? Take him out to dinner!

Here are some idea joggers: favorite food? places he likes to go? hobbies? If he has everything he wants, then the most special gift will be something you spend time to create. For me, when money is tight, I do something I know they wouldn't do for themselves -- think hard!

When on a budget, I am all about personal and inexpensive gifts. Here are some that I have used before.

1. Making him dinner (I agree with indielove!) Even if you can't cook, that actually makes it more meaningful that you attempted for him!
2. The scrapbook idea is great (courtesy of littlemissme) and also a lot of fun! I used a small "brag book" instead of a traditional scrapbook because you can use one photo per page and it's just easier. All you need is some construction paper, a few markers and some stickers.
3. Burn a CD with love songs you would dedicate to him! So easy, so cheap!
4. Give him a manicure, or pedicure, whatever you're comfortable with. You probably have most of the supplies. Soak first, then slather on cream and massage, clip and file! It'll make him feel like a king!
5. Buy a deck of cards, they sell them at the dollar store! Write "I love you because.. (insert a different reason on each card here)" My hubby still treasures the deck I gave him til this day!

My fiance and I don't spend a lot on birthdays, but love to celebrate them so I have a few ideas for you. The night before his birthday, I always get up in the middle of the night and decorate the living room with balloons, streamers, blowers and a big Happy Birthday banner, AND a birthday crown for him to wear. I also buy him about 8 or 10 cards, write inside each one a reason I'm happy he's in my live, and then also enclose a $1 scratch off in each one. Then I hide the cards around the house in places he'll find them - like next to his favorite cup in the cabinet, on his computer keyboard, in his jacket pocket, in the refrigerator next to the milk, next to his watch on the bedside table. I also cook one of his favorite meals and bake his favorite cake. I've done this for 6 years so far, and he never seems to tire of it.

this is what i ALWAYS do and everyone LOVES it. seriously... go to walmart and hit up the toy isle. go STRAIGHT to the dollar toys and get him water guns, cap guns, toy soldiers, dinosaurs, fake cop uniforms, sling shots, TOYS! seriously... he will like it... everyone likes to have fun.

I think that making him food is the best idea. Everyone knows that a way to a man's heart is through his stomach! It's so cliche, but when men are full with mouth-watering food, they turn into happy, bouncy babies.

My husband is a hunter and so I order him flowers and they made them manly and for a hunter. They were roses and they put wild twigs and things coming out of them like you would find in the woods and they tied a camoflauge bow around it. I did this because men love to get flowers too. I also have order pizza and had it delivered to work enough for him and his co-workers with a card attached to the pizza's. You can get lucky with some of the drivers and they will sinf Happy Birthday to him. The last time I sent pizzas all of his workers loved it and said it was time for them to get together and one of his co-workers said he was going to tell his wife that he wanted a pizza party at work. You can also send a gift basket full of goodies that he likes with his favorite colognes and snacks and candy.

nessabum is right. that's why making him dinner is a great idea. plus, it's something you can be proud of.

how about a basket of everyday items he likes. you can choose things from categories like favorite foods, favorite beauty items, favorite drinks, favorite magazines, items he needs for his hobbies, a piece of clothing from his favorite store etc. for example, if i was giving my husband a basket, i would put in corona and yuengling beers, homemade cookies, bubble bath, white wine, a men's fitness magazine, a fishing magazine, socks, kettle corn, gift certificate to his favorite restaurant etc.

Maybe you should embrace your talent for being bad at gifts and go all out. Really ugly patterned socks wrapped in horrendous paper. Hell probably love you for it As you say he doesnt need material things so hell probably appreciate the mock effort.

But i agree with several comments above.. a nice romantic dinner should so it. Or buy yourself some nice lingerie..you both benefit

I've decided to go with the gift basket idea. I'm gonna put together a little package with some of his fave mags, snacks, etc. I'm racking my brain of all the things he likes. I'm excited to put it together, it'll be fun!
